| UNION BETTERMENT ASSOCIATION
The mission of the Union
Betterment Association is to enhance the quality of life for
the citizens of Union and the surrounding area.
The Union Betterment Association meets the 4th Monday of each month at the
Heart of Iowa Telephone
Coop meeting room at 7 PM. Anyone living in Union or the surrounding area is
encouraged to attend. Lezlie Reel is the current chairperson.
The Union Betterment Association organizes and sponsors the Tar Heel Days Festival
and Parade the second
week end in August, the City Wide Garage Sale, the Children's Christmas Party, and the
Christmas Lighting Contest and the Beautiful Yard Contest.
They co-sponsor Town Clean-up Day, and the Christmas Open
House and support other worthwhile projects.
The Tar Heel Days Festival is the Union
Betterment Association's largest project. This group has a
Pork Loin Dinner on Friday night to help pay for the cost of the Tar
Heel Days Festival. The organize and sponsor Talent
Contest and other entertainmet on Friday evening after the Dinner

KIDS". Their special project was to help support the children's activities at the
