Lezlie Reel received the Governor's Volunteer Award from Governor Chester Culver.  The Governor's volunteer Award program was established to honor and recognize volunteers for the commitment, service and time that they  contribute to Iowa's government agencies and nonprofit organizations..  Lezlie Reel, who is Chairman of the Union Betterment Association,  was nominated for the 2008 Governor's Volunteer Award by the City of Union because she is a true example of what makes a volunteer by helping wherever she is asked, whether it's Santa's visit, Spring Clean-up and because of the endless hours of planning and physical work that she has done to make the city's Tar Heel Festival a success for over eight years.
