Union Ambulance:   Dial 911 and ask for the Union Ambulance if you live in Hardin county or Grundy county,  if you live in Marshall county, call the Hardin County Sheriff at 939-3453 and ask for the Union Ambulance.   To reach the Business Office, call 486-2867.

Union Fire Department:      Dial 911   Fire Chief: Troy Wilson

Law Enforcement The City of Union contracts with the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department to provide law enforcement for the city.  The Sheriff's department patrols Union during certain times and handles all criminal or civil, or other emergencies within the city.   For an emergency, Dial 911,  for all non-emergency calls,  Phone: 939-3453.

Hardin County Transit:   Region 6 and Hardin County Supervisors have designed a medical transportation system to provide low cost transportation to health care services in Hardin County, Marshalltown, and Mason City.  To make reservations, call Region 6 Transit Service at 515-752-6202 or Toll free 1-888-616-4298.

Garbage and Recycling Collection
:   Union is served by Knight Sanitation.    Garbage Pickup is Tuesday mornings.   Recycling Pickup is every other Tuesday morning Phone 858-2459.  

Union Water Department:  Contact the City Clerk for hookups and  billing information. 

Telephone and Internet Service and TV Cable Service:   Union is served by Heart of Iowa Telecommunications Cooperative.

Building Permits, Licenses:   Contact the City Clerk for application forms.   

Schools:    The school districts of Beaman, Conrad, Liscomb, Union and Whitten form the BCLUW School District.   The district serves approximately 700 students.  The BCLUW Middle School is located in  Union.   It accommodates grades five  through  eight with an average grade size of 50 students.
